Good Neighbor
by Jonathan Bolton

The moon was no longer
happy watching its neighbor grow dull.
It revealed its face to intervene;
millions of years too late.
Its neighbor’s occupants found no reflections,
no representation within the face. So
they went back to sculpting their statues.
The good neighbor pitied and grieved,
and began to grow tired.
