Attempting to find a way to blend two and three-dimensional media in a way that's intuitive, I found myself utilizing any and all objects that strike me in any particular way--natural or manmade. As long as the objects contain some sort of interesting form, texture, shape, etc., it goes in the panel. The objects are applied somewhat randomly; I'm not attempting to create an image or generate a focal point. I then apply a thin layer of material that blends the objects together, reducing some of their identifying forms or textures. I then sit with my sketchbook and look for imagery like looking for shapes in a popcorn ceiling.
