My drawing practice consists of life sketching and recontextualizing my observations through meticulous mark-making and disrupted figure-ground relationships. I draw subjects from my everyday life to explore concepts of home, memory, nostalgia, and routine. My current series Nausea contends with the blurry lines between things, repeating uncanny forms and textures, then weaving them into dissolving spaces. Underpinned by themes of absurdism, phenomenology, and existentialism, my drawings highlight the susceptibility of visual perception by embracing the essential properties of pencil in a two-dimensional space -- how meaning and presence is shifted by the simplest addition and subtraction of line and tone.
